Designing the Concealed Carry Grip
At Printsmiths we are open to and appreciate feedback. When it comes to designing pistol grips and the multiplicity of hand and finger sizes and lengths, along with shooter preferences, feedback is especially appreciated.
We had received several requests for a grip that was more concealable. We also wanted to prototype finger grooves on the front strap. We had the basic framework for a grip, when on a single day multiple people contacted us asking whether we could design a custom grip based on Resident Evil Requiem. We then started to implement our framework with custom requests, noting to those requesting we would be implementing several core features of the grip, such as the finger grooves and flared beavertail, but that we would not be adding feathered wings. We wanted to add our own brand of design and at the same time not completely copy another's design.
What came from those requests is our Concealed Carry - Flared grip, which is a limited edition. That completed framework then allowed us to pivot to create two additional grips that are more so designed for carry. That framework starts by shortening the overall height of the grip, while at the same time rising the beavertail so that even a medium- to large-sized hand could still completely and comfortably grasp the pistol. The two grips that followed are the standard Concealed Carry grip and the Type 2, which deletes the beavertail, increasing trigger reach and reducing its overall footprint while concealed.
These grips have been very popular, to the point of an unexpected contact request asking for a direct call. Prepared for a complaint, our team reached out, only to receive compliments on their new Concealed Carry - Type 2 grip and how it transformed how they shoot and especially carry. The customer even placed the gun in the hands of his girlfriend who doesn't much care for or shoot pistols--and now is readying to buy her own Rhino simply because of the grip, hoping we can print one in a custom color (yes, we can do that).
